Minor slowdown but FUN for me!

We've paid another $500 to the card this check. We're just waiting to get the cell phone bill and the gas bill to see how much more we can pay.

DH adjusted our budget a bit and told me to use my babysitting money to buy some clothes. In the last 2 1/2 years, I've spent $50 on clothes for me and you can tell! My clothes are SO hammered and I've been looking like such a slob lately. He was so sweet and told me that he wanted me to spend this money on me...I had to promise that I wouldn't spend it on anyone else. So - I went shopping yesterday and got some nice clothes for relatively cheap. I feel a bit guilty using our debt payment money but at the same time, my wardrobe is pretty pathetic. Sadly, I'm not as big of a princess as I'd like to be. If I were, I'd have a fabulous wardrobe and makeup and hair. Maybe I can find a happy balance between princess and slob. I really don't like being the slob!!

Anyway - this slows our debt payment only slightly (I don't make that much money!) and I'll be watching another boy for a few hours a week starting in 2 weeks. I'm still so proud of us for doing this (getting rid of debt) and I'm really happy with our progress.

Yes, but clothes are important. My wardrobe is looking the same way, but like Ive told you, check Freecycle, because people will have brand new clothes that they never even touched just lying around in your size. I know because I got four brand new outfits this weekend for free, not to mention a bag of kids clothes for my boys.

Still though, it does feel good to go shopping, what a treat.

I'll be sure to check out Freecycle. I'd rather pay nothing for clothes!! But yeah....it did feel good to go shopping! I just might get used to it!

What would Dave say? He would say you have to budget for clothes like everything else, wouldn't he? So you shouldn't feel guilty. You bought a necessity.

BTW, I found you through Jessie, who used to post at motherinlawstories.com.

Thank you Sheila! You are right...I do have to take care of my wardrobe as well as my family's. We've got a clothing envelope, but I feel guilty sometimes using it. DH isn't allowing any talk of guilt for using the babysitting money though. So - now I'm trying to be better at taking care of DH's wardrobe with the envelope money. The kids are okay clothing wise....thank heaven for hand-me-downs!!
BTW...I checked out your site and it's great! I love all the recipes, the in-law stories and the debt journey. Way to go!
